AI credits
See your AI credit balance and usage, top up by hand or automatically, use your own AI key, and set spending limits.
How AI credits work#
Every AI reply in your bots and AI Flows uses a few credits. How many depends on the AI model and the length of the conversation. Your bots keep answering as long as there are credits left.
- New accounts start with 100 credits, on Free and Pro.
- Pro includes 1,000 credits every month. Credits from the monthly allowance that you don't use expire when the next month's allowance arrives.
- Credits you buy don't expire.
Steps that don't use AI, such as messages, options and questions in Chat Builder, never use credits.
Check your balance and usage#
- 1
Open AI usage & credits
In the sidebar, click Billing. On the AI usage & credits card, click Open.
- 2
Read your balance
AI credit balance shows the credits left and a status: Active, Running low or Out of credits. It also estimates about how many replies are left with the model you use most.
- 3
See where credits go
Usage in this month shows the credits used per day. Below it, By bot and AI flow and By model show what used them, and Credit history lists every credit added or used.
- 4
Export
Click Export CSV to download this month's usage: credits per day, chatbot and model.
Top up#
- 1
Pick a pack
Under Add credits, click a pack. Its price is shown on the button as Pay.
- 2
Pay
A secure Stripe checkout opens. Officely never sees your card number.
- 3
Back in Officely
You see Payment received. Credits are added within a minute, and paused AI replies resume on their own.
If you see Buying credits online isn't available right now, connect your own AI key (below), or email info@officely.ai and we'll add credits for you.
Auto top-up#
Auto top-up adds a pack whenever your balance drops below an amount you choose, so AI replies never pause. Only owners and admins see it, in Settings on the same page.
- 1
Add a card
Under Auto top-up, click Add card. The card is used only for auto top-up and is saved securely by Stripe.
- 2
Turn it on
Switch on Top up automatically.
- 3
Set the rule
Enter When the balance drops below, for example
200, and pick the pack under Add this pack. - 4
Save
Click Save auto top-up. The summary shows exactly what will be charged and when.
For safety, auto top-up runs at most 3 times a day and 10 times a month. If the card is declined, your bank asks to confirm the payment, or the safety limit is reached, auto top-up stops and you get a notice that says what to do: change the card, or top up by hand.
Use your own AI key#
Connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic or Google Gemini key, and every AI reply that uses that provider runs on your account with the provider. Those replies don't use your Officely credits.
- 1
Open Your own AI keys
On AI usage & credits, scroll to Your own AI keys. When credits are low, Use my own AI key on the balance card takes you there.
- 2
Connect
Click Connect next to the provider and paste the API key from the provider's dashboard.
- 3
Check and save
Click Check and save. Officely makes one tiny test call to the provider before saving. The key is encrypted, and only its last 4 characters stay visible.
The key's status shows Working or Not working. Click Test to check it again, Replace to paste a new one, or Remove to go back to your Officely credits.
If you see The provider rejected this key, copy a working key from the provider's dashboard and try again.
Spending limits#
Owners and admins can cap AI spending in Settings on the AI usage & credits page.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Monthly AI limit for the account | When this many credits are used in a month, AI replies pause until the 1st. Non-AI steps keep working. Leave empty for no limit. |
| Warn me when the balance drops below | You get a notice here and in the builder. Leave empty for the default. |
| Models your bots may use | All models, or Only the models I pick. AI steps that use another model get the polite fallback reply instead of an AI answer, and you get a notice. |
Click Save settings.
Limits per bot caps the credits one bot or AI flow may use in a month. Enter a limit next to the bot and click Save. When it's reached, only that bot's AI replies pause; your other bots keep working.
You get a notice as you approach a limit and when you reach it. To resume right away, raise the limit.
API keys can have their own monthly AI credit limit too. See Developers.
When credits run out#
When your balance reaches zero, or a monthly limit is reached:
- AI replies pause. Your bots still run every non-AI step, and customers get a polite reply instead of an AI answer.
- A reply that was already running may finish, so the balance can briefly dip just below zero. It never shows as negative.
- You see a notice in the app with a button to fix it.
