Steps
End
Send a closing message and finish the conversation, so the customer's next visit starts fresh.
What it does#
End sends its message and finishes the conversation. It has no output: nothing runs after it. When the customer writes again, a new conversation starts and the answers from the old one are cleared.
Put an End at the end of every branch, so customers never get stuck on a step with nothing after it.
Add an End step#
- 1
Drag End onto the canvas
It's the last step under Flow in the Steps panel on the left. Click it to open Step settings.
- 2
Write the closing message
Under Message, replace
Endwith what the customer should read last. Type@or#to insert a variable, such as the customer's name. - 3
Connect into it
Drag from the last step of a branch onto the End step. One End can close several branches.
Example#
A restaurant booking finishes like this:
Email
email
Send Message
Booking confirmed
End
Thanks {{@fullName}}, see you soon!
The customer reads Thanks Dana, see you soon! and the conversation is over.
What happens after End#
| Channel | The customer's next message |
|---|---|
| Website chat | Starts the chatbot again from the Start Message. |
| Closes the finished conversation without a reply. The message after that starts the chatbot again from the Start Message. |
A Key Words keyword always works right away: if the customer types a keyword after End, that keyword's branch runs.
Common mistakes#
- The step shows "This step isn't ready yet". Connect a step into this one. An End that nothing leads to never runs.
- A branch without an End. If the last step of a branch has no connection, the customer gets stuck. Check every option and button leads somewhere.
- Using End in the middle. Nothing runs after End, and the answers are cleared when the customer writes again. Put End after the steps that use the answers (for example after the HTTP step that sends them to your CRM).
