Steps

Send Location

Send a map pin, such as your shop or a meeting point, and move straight on to the next step.

What it does#

Send Location sends a location pin from a latitude and longitude, with a short text. It doesn't wait for a reply: the chat moves straight on to the next step.

Use it to show customers where your business, a branch or a pickup point is. To ask the customer for their address, use Get Location.

The Send Location step

Add a Send Location step#

  1. 1

    Find the coordinates

In Google Maps, right-click the place. The first line of the menu is the latitude and longitude, for example 32.0853, 34.7818. Click it to copy.

  2. 2

Drag Send Location onto the canvas

It's under Flow in the Steps panel on the left. Click it to open Step settings.

  3. 3

    Fill in the location

Under Location, paste the first number in Latitude and the second in Longitude. In Text, write the place name, such as Bella Napoli, Dizengoff 50.

  4. 4

    Connect it

Connect the previous step into this one, and drag from its dot to the next step.

Example#

After a booking, a restaurant shows customers how to find it:

  1. Send Message

    Your table is booked!

  2. Send Location

    32.0853, 34.7818 · Bella Napoli

  3. End

    See you soon!

The location is sent, then the chat ends.

On WhatsApp the customer gets a map pin named Bella Napoli, Dizengoff 50. Tapping it opens their maps app with directions. On your website the location is shown in the chat with its text.

Variables#

Latitude, Longitude and Text can contain # variables, for example coordinates loaded by an HTTP step: {{#branch.lat}} and {{#branch.lng}}. Customer answers (@) aren't filled in here.

Tips and common mistakes#

  • Latitude first. Latitude is the first number Google Maps shows (between -90 and 90). Swapping them puts the pin in the wrong place.
  • Use a dot, not a comma, for decimals: 32.0853, not 32,0853.
  • Want a place name and an address, or more than one message? A Send Message step can send a Location with a Place name and Address (optional), together with texts and files.
  • The step shows "This step isn't ready yet". Connect a step into this one and connect it to the next step.
