Build
Chatbot settings
Brand the website chat, choose the bot's language, edit the messages it writes on its own, and set up Talk to a person and the main menu.
Open Settings#
In the builder, click Settings at the top center (next to Build). Click Build to go back to the canvas.
| Section | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Appearance | How the chat looks on your website. |
| Language & system messages | The language of the messages the bot writes on its own. |
| Bot messages | The exact wording of those messages. |
| Talk to a person | Words that send customers to your team from anywhere. |
| Main menu | Words and a button that take customers back to the menu. |
| Connected accounts | Make and Google accounts your steps use. |
Appearance#
Design the chat your website visitors see. The Live preview on the right updates as you go: switch it between Desktop and Phone, and between Closed and Open.
| Group | Settings |
|---|---|
| Brand | Brand color: pick a preset, Pick any color, or type a hex code like 0F766E. Logo or avatar: shown in the header and next to the bot's messages. |
| Header | Bot name (leave it empty for no header) and a Subtitle, like We usually reply in minutes. |
| Chat button | Position on your website (Bottom right or Bottom left), the Icon (Chat, Message, Sparkles, Question or Your logo), and a Welcome message bubble next to the closed button. |
| Style | Corners (Rounded, Soft, Square), Theme (Light or Dark) and Font. |
Your brand color is used for the chat button, your visitors' messages and reply buttons. Officely picks readable text colors for you, and the Readability check warns you if some text would be hard to read.
Logos: PNG, JPG, SVG, GIF or WebP, up to 5 MB. Square images look best.
Reset to the default look puts everything back.
Custom CSS#
For developers: open Advanced: Custom CSS at the bottom of Appearance. Your CSS is applied after the settings above, so when both change the same thing, your CSS wins.
- Classes you can target (click to copy) lists the class names to use.
- If your CSS also sets colors, the font or corners, a note tells you which settings it overrides.
- Reset removes your CSS. Undo brings it back.
Classes include .widget, .widget-header, .widget-brand, .message-text, .message.inbound .message-text, .buttons button, .widget-footer and .answer-input.
.widget-header {
font-size: 18px;
}
.buttons button {
border-radius: 999px;
}Language & system messages#
Choose English or עברית (Hebrew). This changes the messages the bot writes on its own, like That doesn't look like a valid email, and the starting text of new steps. Messages you wrote stay as they are.
Choose Auto to have the bot answer in the customer's language when it can tell. Then pick the Language when the customer's isn't clear.
Bot messages#
Bot messages are what the bot says on its own: wrong answers, reminders and fallbacks. Change any of them to sound like your business.
- 1
Find the message
Use Search messages or pick a group. The Preview shows the message as customers see it.
- 2
Write your text
Leave a field empty to keep the default. Use Placeholders to insert values the message can include. Reset to default undoes your text.
- 3
Choose who gets it
This chatbot changes only this chatbot (it goes live with Publish). Click Use for all my chatbots on a message, or switch to All chatbots and click Save for all chatbots, to change it everywhere.
- A chatbot's own text always wins over the text for all chatbots.
- Messages a step sets itself, such as Number and Date rules or Talk to a person, still come first.
- With Auto language, click Add language (for example
frores) to write texts for customers who write in that language. - Only the account owner or an admin can change texts for all chatbots.
Messages are plain text: no HTML, and links written as a plain address like https://example.com.
Talk to a person#
Let customers reach your team by typing a word like agent at any point in the chat.
- 1
Add the step
If the chatbot has no Talk to a person step yet, click Add a Talk to a person step. It's added to your flow and turned on. Click Open the step to choose who gets notified.
- 2
Turn it on
Switch on Customers can ask for a person and choose the Talk to a person step.
- 3
Set the keywords
The defaults are human, agent, representative, נציג and נציג אנושי. Add your own or remove them.
Keywords match in any case. Only short messages count, so an answer that happens to mention agent isn't redirected.
Main menu#
Let customers go back to the menu from anywhere, without a "back to menu" button on every branch.
- Switch on Let customers jump back to the menu.
- Choose the Main menu step. It's usually Start (welcome message).
- Set the Keywords. The defaults are menu, תפריט and 0. The whole message must match, in any case. Number keywords are ignored while a step asks for a number.
- Keep Add a "Main menu" button to buttons and lists on to add the button for customers who'd rather tap. Its Button text can be up to 20 characters.
WhatsApp allows 3 buttons and 10 list rows, so the button is added only where there's room. How the button looks shows a preview.
Connected accounts#
Connected accounts lists the accounts your steps use, for every chatbot in your Officely account: your Make organization and team, and your Google accounts. Change or disconnect them here.
